citiworks AG Goes Live with Short-Term Power Trading on New Core ETRM Platform
Following the selection of Previse Systems as its strategic ETRM partner in early 2025, citiworks AG has now successfully gone live with the first phase of the implementation of its new energy trading and risk management platform, based on Previse Coral.
This initial milestone was achieved on 24 June 2025, with Coral now enabling the fully automated trade capture, allocation, and nomination of trades for the German continuous intraday market (EPEX). Since going live, citiworks has been processing volumes of over 8,000 trades per day, demonstrating the system’s ability to support high-frequency trading operations at scale.
The implementation was delivered by Previse Systems, working in close collaboration with sparkspire and LEAD Consult as technology and implementation partners. On the customer side, d-fine supported citiworks with project management.
The solution is built on a cloud-native infrastructure, engineered for scalability and the demands of high-frequency trading. A notable feature of the rollout is its real-time nomination capability, enabled by a real-time report mechanism rather than traditional ad hoc exports. The platform also incorporates customised logic for position aggregation and allocation, aligned with citiworks’ internal tradebook structures.
The new Coral system, with its modern infrastructure and well-integrated interfaces, together with the close and effective collaboration and citiworks’ strong process and IT expertise, enabled us to automate the entire process chain from trade import to nomination within a few months.

The next phases of the project are already in progress and will extend Coral’s coverage to include long-term power, emissions and certificates, as well as natural gas trading.
